Mr Paul Bawden
Mr Paul Bawden brings with him over 30 years of teaching and leadership experience across six different countries and a variety of curricula. Born in Sydney, Australia, Mr Bawden gained his bachelor’s degree in Primary Education from the Australian Catholic University in 1984. He then completed post graduate studies in both Advanced Mathematics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages before gaining his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Queensland University of Technology, in Brisbane. He has recently completed an MBA in Human Resources from the Australian Institute of Business.
Mr Bawden’s teaching career began in Sydney at a Catholic primary school. After four years he moved to Port Moresby to begin a long association with international schools. He has since worked in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and now in China. He has taken on a number of leadership roles including most recently, Principal of the Australian International School in Jakarta. He believes strongly in the rights of every child to the best education possible and served for two years on the Board of SENIA (the Special Education Network in Asia).
Mr Bawden has been the Western Co-Principal of YWIES Guangzhou in the past years. He is currently the Education Director of Mainland China YCIS and YWIES Schools and Executive Principal of YWIES Beijing. He hopes to bring his experience now here to the families of Beijing and nearby regions.
