Ms Melissa Lottering has a PGCE – Primary awarded by University of South Africa. She is from South Africa and has been a teacher for eight years. She has been in China for seven years. She began at YWIES in August, 2016. Her interests include travelling, photography, nature, music and literature.
Ms Karina Leung
Learning Support Teacher
Ms Karina Leung holds a master’s degree in English Language Teaching awarded by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China; M.Ed Guidance and Counselling by the Hong Kong University, China; Post Grad Cert in Education (Secondary) by the Hong Kong University, China and B.A. by University of Glamorgan, Wales. She also has a Professional Development Cert, Diverse Learning Needs awarded by the Hong Kong Institute of Education, China and a Cert in Ed Primary School Teaching (English) by the Open University of Hong Kong, China.
Ms Leung has over 10 years of teaching experience in Hong Kong primary schools and special needs schools. She is certified to teach children with diverse learning needs and she is excited to be starting her second year here at YWIES. She loves running and reading.
Ms Patrica Williamson
Learning Support Teacher
Ms Patricia Williamson is a British Psychological Society Member, Test User: Educational. She has a CP3TA Level 7 Certificate of Psychometric Testing, Assessment & Access; a PGCE Applied Education awarded by Edge Hill University and a BA (Hons) Social & Literary Studies by Sheffield Hallam University.
Ms Williamson is from England and has been a teacher for over 20 years. She has worked internationally both in the Falkland Islands and YCIS Beijing. Her interests include gardening, travelling and sports. She would love to improve her very basic knowledge of Mandarin whilst in China and learn Tai Chi in a park. She works as a member of the Learning Support Team in our school.
Mr Iestyn Shaw
Art and Design Teacher
Mr Iestyn Shaw holds a B.A (Hons) Fine Art awarded by Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK and a PGCE + QTS Secondary Art and design awarded by UWTSD, Swansea, UK.
He is from Wales and is entering his 5th year of teaching Art and Design. After completing his teacher certification, he began teaching in Kuwait for two years, before arriving in Beijing in July of 2018 with his wife. He has taught Art from Key Stage 1 to A Level. His interests include painting, rugby, skiing and travelling.
Ms Wenhui Zhao
Ms Wenhui Zhao holds a bachelor's degree in Violin Performance awarded by Tianjin Normal University, China; a certification of senior violin teacher from Central Conservatory of Music; an Orff International Certificate and a junior secondary music teacher qualification certificate. She is a member of Beijing musicians Education Association.
Ms Zhao was born into a musical family and studied violin and chamber music under the guidance of Mr Xu Yunsheng, professor of Music College in Tianjin. Later, she went to Central Academy of Music for further education of music, and studied Violin Performance and teaching methods under the guidance of Mr Liu Yuxi, professor of the Central Academy of Music and a famous violinist. She obtained the teacher certificate and Orff International Certificate in school. She has been a violin teacher and art director in many schools in Beijing. She has also co-operated with CCTV and other major TV stations many times and acted as a violin performer in evening parties.
Ms Zoya Zhao
Violin Teaching Assistant
Ms Zoya Zhao holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin, Musicology awarded by Tianjin Normal University, China. She has experience of teaching Violin for over 12 years. Meanwhile, as a violinist in the philharmonic, she also has more than six years performing experience. As a teacher, she took her students to show in Beijing Poly Theater, Beijing Exhibition Center Theater and Zhongshan Concert Hall. And her students also received many awards in the Golden Beijing Violin Competition.
She is a member of the International Music Education Association, the Violin Education Society, the Beijing Musicians Association and the Orff Society of Chinese Musicians Association. She is clever at integrating various elements in violin teaching. She advocates multiple education patterns, which concentrate on developing children's interest.
Ms Cathy Chen
Ms Cathy Chen holds a master’s degree candidate awarded by Beijing Sport University, China and a National Second-level Teacher Certificate.
Before joining Yew Wah, Ms Chen worked in Beijing Huijia Private School for four years as a PE teacher, mainly engaged in preschool and primary school physical education teaching. She served as the coach of the primary and secondary school badminton team, with rich teaching and training experience. In addition, she went to Singapore to learn Singapore's teaching concepts and methods, broaden her horizons, and draw on advantages and serve for education. Her education philosophy is that "sports are about lifelong learning and it is the teacher's job to make this happen".
Mr Changjiang Hu
Mr Changjiang Hu holds a Bachelor in Education awarded by Jiamusi University, China; Secondary Teacher Certificate; National Basketball Second-level Referee Certificate and Beijing Excellent Speed Skating Coach Certificate.
Mr Hu has 12 years of teaching experience. Before coming to Yew Wah, he worked as a PE teacher and roller skating coach in a domestic school. He focuses on physical education research, sports training and sports physiology. In teaching, he thinks we should pay attention to the cultivation of students' volitional quality, team consciousness and co-operative spirit. He has been at YWIES Beijing Yizhuang since 2016.
Ms Ada Wang
Ms Ada Wang holds a Bachelor of Music Education awarded by Shenyang Normal University, China and Intermediate Qualifications for Teachers.
Before joinng Yew Wah, Ms Wang worked at Beijing Huijia Private School, and Beijing City International School. She has focused on music enlightenment education for many years. She strengthens fun and practice of basic music skills. Her teaching style is lively and she is good at the application of European and American music education practices. She was involved in the research by the Ministry of Education and was involved in academic exchanges many times to Europe and the United States.
Ms Michelle Meng
Ms Michelle Meng is studying a Master in Management at Renmin University of China, China, and she received a Bachelor in Management from Capital Uni. of Economics and Business, China. She holds a Secondary English Teacher Certificate and a Teaching Chinese as a foreign Fanguage Certificate.
She is from Beijing and has been teaching for eight years. She taught Chinese in South Korea for a year before returning home to work in the library of an international school. She joined YWIES Beijing Yizhuang in August 2016. She enjoys dancing, experiencing different cultures and participating in various sports.
