Congratulations to the YWIES Beijing students who have made their debut in the Kangaroo Maths Thinking Competition! The Kangaroo Maths Thinking Competition is the world's largest mathematical thinking challenge for young people. It aims to inspire interest and confidence in mathematics, develop mathematical thinking, and train analytical and problem-solving skills using interesting and realistic questions. With over 6.3 million students from 87 countries and territories participating each year, it is a challenge that will make students fall in love with mathematics.
We are proud of every student who had the courage to participate in this contest and challenge themselves. We firmly believe that winning the contest is not the only goal; developing the ability to think is fundamental. The famous German poet and dramatist Bertolt Brecht said, "Thinking is the greatest of all human pleasures". Yew Wah is committed to nurturing students to look beneath the surface and enjoy the pleasure of critical thinking, and lead them to the path of discovery.
In the mathematics classroom of Yew Wah, passion and creativity will never be absent. What we value most is that students acquire important skills in the process of learning, including critical thinking, open-minded thinking, and rigorous thinking. Math classes help students to answer questions about the world they live in by showing them how to think critically and develop the resilience to keep asking questions.
YWIES Beijing takes a holistic approach that creates a positive, caring, joyful and appreciative learning environment and nurtures the whole person. It prepares students to look beyond the walls of the classroom and their countries and launches them on a personal journey of growth to become confident, balanced individuals with international perspectives. If you want to know more about Yew Wah, you are welcome to make an appointment to explore the campus and witness such inspiring teaching and learning.
