In an era where globalization and educational reform are deeply intertwined, Yew Chung Yew Wah Beijing Yizhuang welcomes an educational pioneer—Dr. Mu. With the declaration, “From Harvard to the World’s Classroom, Illuminating Infinite Possibilities with the Light of Education!”, she embarks on a new journey of school development.

Starting from Harvard, Advancing to the Global Educational Stage

Dr. Mu holds a doctorate in education and has earned a certification in instructional leadership from Harvard University. Unbounded by past achievements, she consistently upholds the belief of “global vision with deep local engagement,” integrating the student-centered approach into daily practice to connect the classroom with a broader world.

    Academic Foundation, Practical Wings

Dr. Mu’s educational background is a model of internationalization. Her credentials, including Harvard’s Teaching Leadership certification and being a global examiner for Cambridge IGCSE, attest to her strong academic capabilities. However, she places even greater emphasis on practice. Her teaching experience spanning Asia and Africa has made her a versatile expert in education. From China to Kenya, she has deeply understood and actively explored the educational needs shaped by diverse cultural contexts. She shares her insights on platforms such as Beijing Normal University and the IB China Education Forum, promoting the deep integration of international curricula with Chinese educational settings. Her work helps international education take root in China, cultivating outstanding talents who combine global vision with local cultural awareness.

Classroom Innovation Leading New Educational Trends

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Mu is a “barrier breaker” in international education. She leads the implementation of ATL (Approaches to Learning) and ATT (Approaches to Teaching) training systems across multiple schools, helping teachers transition from mere knowledge transmitters to “learning facilitators,” thereby opening the door to autonomous learning for students. Addressing the challenges Chinese students face in adapting to international curricula, she proposed a “Sino-Western Integration and Mutual Empowerment” approach. This approach is not a simple patchwork but a thoughtful extraction of the essence from both educational systems to achieve complementary strengths. In curriculum design, it balances traditional Chinese culture with international innovative thinking; in teaching methods, it emphasizes the combination of knowledge delivery and classroom practice.

In terms of college counseling, Dr. Mu is a “dream planner” for students. With “personalized planning” as her key strategy, she deeply understands each student’s interests, strengths, and career goals to tailor their higher education plans. She has helped hundreds of students open the doors to prestigious universities worldwide.

Education Experts Join Forces to Build a New Educational Ecosystem

Currently, under the leadership of Ms. Christine Xu, Regional Executive Principal of Yew Chung Yew Wah, Dr. Mu is collaborating closely with Western Co-Principal Mr. Malcolm Harrison to inject new vitality into YCYW Beijing Yizhuang.

    Ms. Christine Xu
With 26 years of deep experience in international education, Ms. Xu has grown from a frontline teacher to an industry leader and was honored as one of Forbes China’s “Top Ten Outstanding International School Principals.” She has promoted deep collaborations between the Yew Chung Yew Wah curriculum system and top universities such as Peking University and Beijing Normal University, building bridges between basic education and higher education. Guided by the philosophy of “East-West integration and holistic education,” she leads reforms and shares experiences on “bilingual teaching” and “happy education” at international forums.

    Mr. Malcolm Harrison
With extensive multinational education experience spanning the UK, Australia, South Korea, and China, Mr. Harrison has led curriculum reforms across multiple countries. By innovating teaching with a “student-centered” approach, he has improved school performance and enhanced home-school collaboration. Since joining in 2022, he has integrated global educational tools to create a “borderless learning community,” cultivating students’ cross-cultural problem-solving abilities.

Educational Dialogues Unlocking Future Hot Topics

To benefit more educators, parents, and students, the three principals will launch a series of video dialogues. The discussions will focus on cutting-edge topics in international education, exploring how cultural differences in multicultural settings can become symbiotic advantages. They will introduce the “Diamond Model” to support student growth; reveal the “Small but Beautiful” reform plan; jointly explore strategies for “de-labeling” assessments in the AI era to stimulate autonomous learning; share cases of collaboration among families, schools, and communities; discuss pathways to cultivate students who are “rooted locally and global in outlook”; and outline a blueprint for nurturing “future-defining” global citizens.

Listeners will gain exposure to advanced ideas and practical strategies, inspiring reflection, and action toward ideal education.
