    Mathematics Unlocked

    Competitions Shined

Facing the challenges of international further education, many parents worry that their children lack interest in math or direction in competitions, fearing their academic abilities won’t meet the requirements of top overseas schools.

Yew Chung Yew Wah has been dedicated to Math education for years, focusing on cultivating bilingual mathematical thinking and integrating both Eastern and Western approaches. Combined with practical differentiated teaching, professional faculty, and solid competition achievements, we help students overcome anxiety, smoothly transition to overseas studies, and ensure every effort is rewarded.

    Comprehensive System + Tiered Mechanism

    Combined with Unique Thinking Development

Yew Chung Yew Wah Beijing Yizhuang abandons the "one-size-fits-all" teaching approach by deeply integrating a comprehensive curriculum system, refined tiered mechanisms, and its distinctive features. Balancing national curriculum standards with international concepts, it creates a closed-loop development from primary to secondary education, addressing both weaknesses and advanced talents.

    Math Subject Leader          Freya Gong

Ms. Gong, the Math Subject Leader, explains in detail: Our core feature is bilingual mathematical thinking cultivation. Unlike conventional teaching, at the primary level we integrate American and British resources, using real-life scenarios to break down abstract concepts, rejecting rote drilling.

In class, bilingual instruction empowers students both ways: Chinese solidifies calculation fundamentals, while English organizes logical thinking and connects with international question types. This helps students build a complete bilingual mathematical mindset, clearing obstacles for fully English-based math learning overseas.

The integration of Chinese and Western mathematical thinking is our core strength: balancing the Chinese focus on “solidifying fundamentals and emphasizing efficiency” with the Western emphasis on “inquiry-based learning and practical application.” For example, when teaching geometry, we inherit the Chinese technique of “simplifying complexity” through modelling while incorporating the Western logical training of “axiomatic deduction,” achieving a dual empowerment of “Chinese foundational skills + Western thinking.”

Our tiered teaching is not simply grouping students but involves dynamic adjustments and precise adaptation: with two assessments each semester, learning groups and teaching focuses are flexibly adjusted based on students’ problem-solving abilities and knowledge mastery. The foundational group concentrates on consolidating key knowledge points, with teachers providing one-on-one guidance to address weaknesses and ensure thorough understanding of every exam topic. The competition group focuses on expanding problem-solving thinking through targeted training, paving the way for success in international competitions. This practical mechanism enables each student to steadily improve at a pace suited to their individual needs.

Concrete Integration of Chinese and Western Teachers

    Implementing Distinctive Teaching

Excellent distinctive teaching relies on professional faculty. Our mathematics team, led by Ms. Gong, combines Chinese and Western expertise with strong capabilities to precisely implement bilingual and Sino-Western integrated mathematical thinking instruction.

Both Chinese and Western teachers possess solid academic backgrounds and rich experience; over half hold master’s degrees, with an average teaching experience exceeding 10 years. They excel at guiding inquiry-based learning and strengthening English problem-solving skills. Chinese teachers, graduate from renowned normal universities, deeply understand Chinese teaching essentials and seamlessly connect with bilingual contexts. Chinese and Western teachers collaborate in teaching and research to ensure that our distinctive training is substantive rather than superficial.

Our team is highly practical: several teachers hold international competition coaching certifications and have led teams to win multiple awards. We have also established a daily error-feedback mechanism, correcting, and thoroughly explaining mistakes one by one, balancing the Chinese patient remedial approach with Western encouraging education to help students build confidence in mathematics.

This dedicated effort has yielded solid results: all 2025 IGCSE Math candidates achieved A*/A grades. As one student said, “I used to be afraid of math and struggled with solving problems in English. It was the teachers’ guidance and patient support that encouraged me to explore actively and confidently answer questions in both Chinese and English.”

    Competition Support

    to Solidify Academic Advancement Competitiveness

We adhere to the principle of “encouraging participation and breakthrough by levels,” avoiding elite-only selection, and leverage our distinctive training to give students a competitive edge in contests. Our professional coaching team provides one-stop support, offering weekly joint competition classes tailored to various international contests. At the same time, we strengthen all-English problem-solving skills to align with the thinking assessed in international competitions, breaking the dilemma of “knowing how to solve problems but unable to express them.”

    This academic year, our school’s Math competition achievements have been impressive – 42 students won national awards in Australia’s AMC Math assessment, with 3 advancing to the China camp, ranking among the nation’s top performers;

in the U.S. All-Star pure English Math competition, our participants performed outstandingly overall, with one student reaching the global top 5%, proving the effectiveness of our teaching.

As CUGO Mr. Liu noted, these competition results serve as a “stepping stone” for prestigious universities in the UK and the US: they significantly enhance applications for STEM and business programs in the US and strongly demonstrate academic potential for UK institutions. Mathematical ability is a crucial dimension of overseas admission, and the school rationally plans competition and academic pathways tailored to each student’s overall academic profile and interests.

At Yew Chung Yew Wah Beijing Yizhuang, Math is never just an abstract pile of formulas but a tangible and improvable academic skill. We don’t play with concepts; instead, we respond to expectations with a layered teaching mechanism, professional faculty, and real achievements. Leveraging our unique bilingual and Sino-Western thinking integration advantage, we help students overcome Math anxiety, build core competitiveness, steadily advance in international competitions, smoothly transition to overseas education, and unlock broader futures.
